The Aladdin Project’s Chair, Leah Pisar, and Executive Director, Abe Radkin took part in the World Holocaust Forum held on Thursday 23, January 2020 by Yad Vashem in Jerusalem to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Numerous heads of state and leaders, including Emmanuel Macron, Vladimir Putin, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Prince Charles, and the King of Spain, as well as representatives of several European countries were also present.

The delegation of the Aladdin Project met with Yad Vashem’s Chairman, Chief Rabbi Meir Lau, a Holocaust survivor who had participated in the historic visit of Auschwitz with a large ecumenical delegation of 200 European, American, African and Middle Eastern personalities, on February 1, 2011. “This visit and the prayers we led together with the Archbishop of Paris, the Cardinal Vingt-Trois, and the Grand Mufti of Bosnia, Mustafa Cerić will remain forever etched in my memory”, he told Leah Pisar and Abe Radkin, thus highlighting the vital work of the Aladdin Project.

In a meeting with both Yad Vashem’s Director and Secretary-General, Avner Shalev and Dorit Novak, the two organizations agreed to expand their cooperation for Holocaust education and the fight against anti-Semitism and racism.

The commemorations will continue until January 27th, the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, which has been declared International Holocaust Remembrance Day by the Council of Europe, the UN and UNESCO.
